Moldovan french collaboration in the field of neurosciences and pediatric oncology

On July 9, 2024, a delegation of Adolphe de Rothschild Foundation Hospital and Gustave Roussy Hospital from France visited Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova.
The delegation included the following members: Fabrice Verriele, deputy general director of Adolphe de Rothschild Foundation Hospital, Dr. Georg Dorfmuller, head of the Pediatric Neurosurgery Service, Prof. Emmanuel Raffo, deputy head of the Pediatric Neurosurgery Service, Olivier Martz, head of project for international development, and Rémi Thiolet, director of international affairs at Gustave Roussy Hospital.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco, State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Alexandru Gasnas, University rector Emil Ceban, members of the administrative team, heads of departments and studies, managers of public medical and sanitary institutions in Chisinau.
Minister Ala Nemerenco expressed her gratitude to the French side for the visit and the cooperation intentions in the health area, especially given the complicated geopolitical situation in the region, stressing that the Republic of Moldova tends to align itself with the highest international standards and practices in medicine, in the context of accession to the European Union. The health official noted that it was very important "to create conditions for the implementation of the latest scientific achievements and for the development of the practical skills of doctors in the field of neurosurgery, including through visits to French hospitals, teleconferences, training courses at university and postgraduate level, with the aim of improving the quality of healthcare services in our country".
The members of the French delegation briefly presented the hospitals and announced their intention to collaborate by concluding a memorandum in the field of neurosciences (neurology, epileptology, neurosurgery, oncopediatrics), based on the dissemination of international expertise in education, research and medical practice, through knowledge transfer and exchange of experience between specialists, the organization of practical internships, academic and research mobilities, video conferences and online meetings to discuss case studies, or online consultations, etc.
"We are honored by the visit and thank the Ministry of Health for the opportunity to participate in the meeting. We are sure that this cooperation will contribute to the improvement of the didactic, curative, research and methodological process in the field of neurology, neurosurgery, pediatric oncology, etc., with the commitment of specialized chairs, young specialists and researchers, for the benefit of the health of patients in the Republic Moldova", rector Emil Ceban specified.
The visit of doctors from France was organized at the initiative of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova between July 8-10 this year and aims to develop cooperation in the neurosurgery, oncology and pediatric ophthalmology areas and to improve these services in our country through exchange of experience and transfer of best practices among specialists.
Previously, during the meeting of the Minister of Health with the French experts, the parties discussed the implementation of joint projects in the field of health, with a view to taking over the best European practices. French doctors have shown their openness to provide support to the medical system of our country and to share knowledge and expertise in these specialized fields.
The agenda of the mission also included visits to the Institute of Mother and Child, the Oncological Institute, the Emergency Medicine Institute, as well as to the University Center for Simulation in Medical Training within the Nicolae Testemitanu University.
